Position Overview
Fedics is looking for a Ward Hostess to work individually on patient wards, serving breakfast, lunch, supper and snacks in a busy, fast-paced healthcare environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Serve patients tea, coffee and alternative snacks
Accurately record patient meal choices on menu cards
Return completed menu cards to the kitchen promptly
Update diet lists before meals
Immediately communicate any diet alterations
Transport meal trolleys between the kitchen and wards
Check that all meal trays are complete before serving
Serve meals to patients and remove trays promptly after meals
Wash cutlery after every meal
Ensure cutlery is served in cutlery bags
Keep ward cutlery secure when not in use
Maintain a clean and tidy ward kitchen
Ensure trays are not left in the ward kitchen after meals
Skills & Competencies
Ability to work effectively under pressure
Good communication skills
Knowledge of hygiene and quality standards
Neat, professional and well-presented appearance
Motivated and self-driven
Able to work with limited supervision
Flexible to work weekends and public holidays
Qualifications
National Senior Certificate / Grade 12
Previous hospital environment experience will be advantageous
