JOB PURPOSE
To provide general support services, including loading and off-loading of goods, cleaning and maintenance of work areas, document distribution and collection, and operation of basic equipment.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
General Duties
Load and off-load furniture, equipment, archival material and other goods.
Transport goods to the relevant destinations.
Ensure the safe keeping and handling of records and archival material.
Assist with the movement and storage of furniture, equipment and other items.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Clean the interior and exterior areas of the building.
Clean designated workstations and work areas.
Assist with the maintenance and cleaning of external areas surrounding the archive building.
Perform basic gardening and general maintenance duties where required.
Follow applicable health and safety procedures.
Document Distribution and Collection
Distribute and collect documents as required.
Ensure the proper movement and handling of documents.
Record the movement of documents accurately in the relevant register.
Safeguard documents while in transit.
Operation of Elementary Machines
Operate basic equipment and machines, including:
Vacuum cleaners.
Photocopiers.
Ensure that equipment is used safely and appropriately.
Report damaged or faulty equipment to the relevant supervisor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
NQF Level 1 / Grade 9, including AET/ABET Level 4 certificate, obtained from a recognised institution of Basic Education.

Basic literacy skills.
Good communication skills.
Ability to perform repetitive work procedures.
Knowledge of basic cleaning procedures.
Basic gardening and general maintenance knowledge.
Knowledge and understanding of health and safety measures.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to safely handle and move equipment, furniture and archival material.
