Requirements
Applicants must have:
Adult Education and Training (AET/ABET) Level 3 or equivalent (Grade 7).
No experience is required.
Skills and Competencies
Applicants should have:
Basic knowledge of Batho Pele Principles, Patients' Rights Charter, Occupational Health and Safety and National Core Standards.
Knowledge of cleaning procedures.
Basic knowledge of the health system.
Good communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
Good observation and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to act with tact and discretion.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and machines.
Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays.
Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Cleaning floors, walls, windows, doors and bathrooms.
Cleaning offices, clinics, corridors, waiting areas, entrances and other areas.
Cleaning furniture, carpets and equipment.
Removing medical and general waste.
Cleaning bins and handling cardboard waste.
Operating heavy-duty cleaning machines.
Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment.
Handling and storing linen.
Cleaning kitchens, refrigerators and other areas as required.
Refilling soap containers.
Keeping trolleys clean.
Sorting and sealing contaminated linen.
Controlling kitchen and bathroom stock.
Completing daily cleaning control lists.
Following cleaning, infection control and health and safety procedures.
Attending required meetings and training.
Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor.
