About the Learnership

Rand Water invites unemployed South African youth to apply for the Public Service Administrator Learnership Programme (NQF Level 5). This exciting opportunity is aimed at developing critical administrative and public service skills while providing valuable workplace experience.

Rand Water is one of the largest water utilities in the world, supplying high-quality drinking water to over 12 million people across South Africa's economic hub. Through this learnership programme, Rand Water seeks to contribute to skills development and employment creation in line with the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS III).

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be unemployed.

  • Not be registered for any qualification at a tertiary institution.

  • Not be enrolled in any other learnership programme.

  • Not possess any completed post-matric qualification.

  • Be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.

  • Be between 18 and 35 years old.

Applicants must have Matric (Grade 12) with:

  • Mathematics (Level 4 or higher) or Mathematical Literacy (Level 5 or higher); and

  • Physical Sciences (Level 4 or higher)

OR

  • Mathematics (Level 4 or higher) or Mathematical Literacy (Level 5 or higher); and

  • Business Studies (Level 4 or higher).

Required Documents

Applicants must submit:

  • Certified copy of South African ID

  • Certified copy of Matric Certificate

  • SAQA/NLRD Verification Report

  • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Important: Applicants who hold any post-matric qualification will not be considered. Failure to disclose qualifications may result in disqualification.

Key Responsibilities

Successful learners will be exposed to the following duties:

  • Managing office records and filing systems

  • Preparing reports, letters and official documents

  • Handling incoming and outgoing correspondence

  • Communicating professionally with clients, staff and the public

  • Responding to enquiries, complaints and information requests

  • Assisting with meeting coordination and scheduling

  • Taking minutes during meetings

  • Monitoring departmental projects and programmes

  • Ensuring compliance with public service policies and procedures

  • Capturing data and maintaining electronic records

  • Preparing spreadsheets, reports and presentations

  • Using Microsoft Office applications effectively

Knowledge Required

  • Understanding of Rand Water's mandate and contribution to the South African water sector.

Skills Required

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
