Introduction

Lancet Laboratories is seeking a professional and customer-focused Relief Admin Clerk / Receptionist to join its team in Rosebank. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, capturing, sorting, and distributing laboratory samples while providing administrative and reception support to ensure the efficient processing of specimens and delivery of excellent customer service.

Job Purpose

To administer the receiving, capturing, and distribution of all samples to ensure accurate information is obtained and recorded while facilitating the efficient processing of specimens in line with laboratory service objectives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or relevant NQF Level 4 qualification
  • BSc Degree will be advantageous
  • 0–1 year relevant working experience

Relevant Job Knowledge

Candidates should possess knowledge of:

Key Performance Areas

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Sorting and distributing samples according to standard operating procedures.
  • Processing sample registrations and related queries.
  • Dispatching specimens for processing and monitoring progress until results are received.
  • Conducting hospital rounds to distribute reports and collect submitted samples.
  • Handling administrative queries and customer complaints professionally.
  • Tracking specimen deliveries and ensuring timely processing by designated laboratories.
  • Investigating and resolving bottlenecks within pre-analytical laboratory processes.
  • Maintaining housekeeping standards and ensuring equipment is prepared according to procedures.
  • Monitoring stock levels and ordering additional supplies when required.
  • Delivering stock to doctors' rooms and ensuring material availability.
  • Providing excellent customer service at reception and directing clients to relevant departments.
  • Receiving patient payments and ensuring banking procedures are followed.
  • Logging incidents, customer complaints, and corrective actions on laboratory information systems.
  • Preparing and scanning patient documentation onto the laboratory scanning system (Oculus).
  • Adhering to company uniform and operational procedures at all times.
