About the Position
Starke Ayres is looking for a dedicated General Worker to assist with the treatment, drying, and bagging of various seed varieties and seed lots. The successful candidate will work under supervision and ensure all activities are carried out according to company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Seed Treatment and Processing
Receive seed lots for treatment and verify the correct treatment type
Check quantities, varieties, seed sizes, lot numbers, and transfer information
Accurately weigh and verify containers after treatment application
Ensure seed is treated according to prescribed protocols and standards
Packaging and Handling
Close and label containers and bags according to procedures
Stack and pack treated seed correctly
Assist with sealing processed seed when required
Support quality control checks on labels, bags, cartons, packets, and other packaging materials
Equipment Operation and Maintenance
Operate cleaning and treatment equipment after settings have been approved by the Supervisor
Clean equipment thoroughly before and after use
Complete daily equipment checklists accurately
Ensure no residue from previous treatments remains on equipment
Administration and Compliance
Complete all required checklists and documentation accurately
Present job cards to the Supervisor for reconciliation, approval, and sign-off
Follow all quality control procedures and company instructions
Maintain high hygiene standards within the work area
Minimum Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric) – preferred
At least 1 year of General Worker experience – preferred
