Job Overview
AECI Mining is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Operations Assistant to support mobile manufacturing unit (MMU) operations and blasting-related activities in Emalahleni.
The successful candidate will assist the MMU Controller in daily operational tasks, including blasting support, product handling, inspections, and maintaining high housekeeping standards. This role requires strict adherence to safety procedures, hazardous materials handling protocols, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
MMU Operations Support
Assist the MMU Controller in operating and managing mobile manufacturing unit (MMU – blend truck) activities.
Ensure customer requirements are met in line with AECI standards and procedures (OTIF).
Support inspections of fixed plant and MMUs in accordance with SABS and World Class standards.
Identify non-conformances and assist in implementing preventative and improvement measures.
Blasting Support Duties
Assist with measuring blast holes and preparing work areas.
Assist in closing or stemming charged holes.
Support charging-up activities on the blasting bench.
Assist with all blasting-related functions as required under supervision.
Product Handling & Logistics
Assist with loading and unloading of explosives and related accessories.
Support the movement of packaged explosives safely and in compliance with legal requirements.
Assist in maintaining safe handling practices for hazardous materials.
Housekeeping & Site Maintenance
Maintain cleanliness of the site, wash bay, and truck park.
Ensure trucks are kept clean and in accordance with World Class standards.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
Compliance & Safety
Observe all legal, safety, and operational requirements at the depot and worksite.
Ensure adherence to hazardous product handling procedures.
Obtain and maintain required health clearance (red ticket) as required.
Follow all safety protocols and company procedures at all times.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Requirements
Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
Code B driver’s licence.
Understanding of safe working practices.
Knowledge of product handling and hazardous materials.
Additional Requirements
Must be able to obtain red ticket health clearance.
Ability to work independently when required.
