Job Overview

AECI Mining is seeking a skilled and qualified Fitter and Turner to support the maintenance, repair, and manufacturing of mechanical components and systems in Sasolburg.

The successful candidate will ensure optimal performance of plant and equipment by performing precision mechanical work, preventative maintenance, repairs, and modifications. This role requires strong technical expertise, fault-finding ability, and adherence to strict safety standards in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance tasks to minimise plant downtime.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform necessary repairs.
Ensure safe and efficient operation of all plant and mechanical equipment.

Manufacturing & Installation

Manufacture, assemble, repair, and maintain mechanical components with high precision.
Perform improvements, modifications, and new installations on plant and equipment.
Ensure all mechanical work meets required engineering standards and specifications.

Technical Work

Read and interpret technical drawings accurately.
Apply proven planning and fault-finding techniques in mechanical systems.
Ensure work is completed according to engineering and safety requirements.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure safe operation of all equipment and machinery at all times.
Adhere to workplace safety procedures and regulations.
Obtain required certificate of fitness where applicable.
Work safely at heights and in confined spaces when required.

General Duties

Perform general housekeeping in the work area.
Work overtime and standby shifts as required by operational needs.
Maintain tools, equipment, and work environment in good condition.

Minimum Requirements

Essential Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric with Mathematics and Physical Science OR Technical N3.
Trade Test Certificate in Fitting and Turning (Red Seal qualification).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
Valid driver’s licence.

Additional Requirements

Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Must be medically fit and able to obtain a certificate of fitness.
