About the Opportunity

An opportunity has become available for a Donor Recruiter at SANBS.

The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting and educating blood donors, ensuring recruitment and collection targets are achieved and contributing to the maintenance of a sustainable and safe blood supply.

Key Performance Areas

Customer & Stakeholder Management

The successful candidate will:

  • Participate in donor recruitment pilot studies conducted at selected blood drives

  • Attend to donor queries and complaints

  • Report required follow-up actions to the Donor Relations Practitioner

  • Provide feedback regarding donor educational needs, including talks and educational activities

  • Assist with organising donor marketing functions such as media launches, donor awards and controller functions

Internal Processes & Blood Drive Support

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering advertising material such as flyers, posters, banners and boards before blood drives

  • Contacting blood drive controllers and peer promoters to confirm that arrangements are in place

  • Assisting with finding alternative venues when the allocated venue is unsuitable

  • Recording relevant venue information on the recruiter's report form

  • Displaying advertising material and directional arrows to improve blood drive visibility

  • Recruiting and educating blood donors to achieve collection targets

  • Highlighting risk-behaviour information to donors to support a safe and quality blood supply

  • Welcoming donors in a friendly and professional manner

  • Helping donors feel comfortable and ensuring a positive donation experience

  • Providing donor information pamphlets and ensuring donors understand the importance of reading and understanding the information

  • Monitoring the flow of the blood drive, under the guidance of the Clinic Supervisor, to minimise waiting times

  • Offering refreshments to donors where required

  • Assisting with customer service-related questions

  • Referring medical questions to the Clinic Supervisor

  • Assisting with the setup and pack-up of blood drives

  • Ensuring venues are left clean and in good order

  • Promoting campaigns to donors and providing feedback to the Donor Relations Practitioner

  • Assisting with branch promotions, shows and exhibitions

Learning & Growth

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Submit weekly donor recruitment reports to the Donor Relations Practitioner

  • Make recommendations to improve blood drive performance

  • Keep their personnel file updated

  • Ensure relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are read and understood

  • Complete required competency assessments

  • Attend relevant meetings and training sessions

  • Keep up to date with developments in the field

  • Contribute to knowledge sharing within the team

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • Marketing / Public Relations Certificate with a minimum duration of 6 months

  • Code B Manual Driver's Licence

Experience & Knowledge
