Picking Controller Opportunity
Econofoods is looking for an experienced and motivated Picking Controller to join its logistics team in Kimberley.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate order fulfilment by managing picking operations, monitoring productivity, improving warehouse processes, and leading the picking team to achieve operational targets.
This role plays a critical part in maximizing productivity, minimizing errors, and maintaining a high-performing warehouse operation.
Key Responsibilities
Picking Operations Management
The successful candidate will:
Manage and oversee picking equipment allocation and usage.
Conduct equipment inspections and coordinate maintenance activities.
Ensure equipment is functioning efficiently to support warehouse operations.
Allocate picking tasks and provide clear work instructions to staff.
Monitor order picking progress and ensure deadlines are met.
Track productivity levels and operational performance.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve warehouse picking processes.
Streamline workflows to increase productivity and efficiency.
Design and optimize warehouse picking layouts.
Implement strategies to improve operational performance.
Ensure systematic and efficient order fulfilment procedures.
Quality and Accuracy Control
Implement quality control measures to improve picking accuracy.
Investigate and resolve picking errors.
Provide coaching and training to improve operational accuracy.
Coordinate invoice corrections and re-picking activities when required.
Ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment.
Performance Management
Manage visual performance indicators within the picking area.
Monitor productivity, efficiency, and accuracy metrics.
Support the achievement of departmental and team objectives.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Safety and Compliance
Promote and maintain a safe working environment.
Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Enforce workplace safety procedures and standards.
Ensure compliance with all health and safety requirements.
Team Leadership
Lead and manage the picking team.
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly team meetings.
Manage employee attendance and timekeeping.
Plan and manage staff leave schedules.
Handle employee relations matters where required.
Provide coaching, training, and ongoing support to team members.
Foster a positive and productive team culture.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
Grade 12 (Matric) certificate or an equivalent qualification.
Experience
Candidates should possess:
3–5 years of experience in a similar role.
Experience within the FMCG retail industry will be advantageous.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in a leadership or supervisory position.
