Job Description

Mediclinic Victoria is seeking a Filing Clerk to join its Patient Administration Department in Tongaat. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for individuals who are organized, detail-oriented, and eager to build a career in healthcare administration.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate patient records, managing filing systems, ensuring confidentiality of information, and providing administrative support to facilitate the smooth operation of the hospital.

Purpose of the Role

The Filing Clerk will ensure the accurate filing and management of patient and hospital records to support efficient operational and administrative processes while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and record keeping.

Key Responsibilities

Record Management

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.

  • Ensure all documentation is filed correctly and efficiently.

  • Retrieve and archive records when required.

  • Maintain an organized and effective filing system.

Administrative Support

  • Provide administrative support to the Patient Administration Department.

  • Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality requirements.

  • Assist with record storage and document management processes.

  • Support the department with general administrative duties.

Stock and Stationery Management

  • Monitor stationery stock levels within the Patient Administration Department.

  • Order stationery and office supplies when required.

  • Ensure adequate stock is available to support daily operations.

Compliance and Best Practice

  • Adhere to hospital policies regarding patient information and confidentiality.

  • Ensure proper storage and destruction of records in line with regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain best practices in record keeping and documentation management.

Minimum Requirements

Essential Education

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent qualification.

Skills and Competencies

  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.

  • General filing and record management skills.
