Job Overview
Ampath Laboratories is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Branch Administrator to join its Blaauwberg team. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory and Care Centre through accurate administration, excellent customer service, and efficient support of laboratory processes.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining quality standards, supporting specimen processing, and creating a professional and welcoming experience for patients and colleagues. Through strong administrative support and attention to detail, the Branch Administrator contributes to operational excellence and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support
Capture and maintain accurate information and records.
Prepare and process administrative documentation.
Maintain organized filing and record-keeping systems.
Handle routine correspondence and office administration tasks.
Ensure information reaches the appropriate stakeholders timeously.
Patient and Customer Service
Welcome and assist patients visiting the Care Centre.
Guide patients through requisition forms and administrative processes.
Answer incoming calls and respond to routine enquiries.
Assist with account queries and billing-related matters.
Conduct medical aid benefits checks where required.
Process cash and card payments accurately.
Generate pro forma invoices when necessary.
Laboratory Support
Receive and verify specimens against requested tests.
Label, batch, and prepare specimens according to laboratory procedures.
Ensure specimens are processed correctly for onward testing.
Assist with the distribution of reports to doctors and hospital wards.
Support quality control measures and operational efficiency.
Operational Excellence
Follow established procedures and quality standards.
Identify potential delays and take proactive action.
Escalate issues when necessary and seek guidance appropriately.
Contribute to a professional, efficient, and patient-focused environment.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Grade 12 / Matric (Essential).
Experience
0–4 years of administrative experience.
Experience in a pathology, laboratory, or healthcare environment will be advantageous but is not required.
