Job Purpose:
To perform tasks and activities related to the transportation of materials, equipment, and personnel to and from worksites, and to operate heavy mechanical plant and/or specialised vehicles for road and stormwater maintenance activities.

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Perform tasks at the depot and worksite before and after maintenance assignments.

• Communicate with supervisors to confirm task details.

• Complete internal documentation and required forms.

• Operate heavy specialised mechanical plant and vehicles for road and stormwater maintenance.

• Manage and control the use and discharge of materials for repair or reconstruction.

Essential Requirements:

• Appropriate level of secondary education

• Valid certification in operating heavy plant machinery

• Valid Code C1 driver’s license

• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP)

• At least 2 years of relevant experience

Preferred Requirements:

• Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent

• 3 years of relevant experience

---

Special Conditions:

• Must work in all weather conditions

• May be required to work outside normal hours during emergencies or planned overtime

• Post is interchangeable with other Driver Operator positions and may be reassigned as per departmental policies

• Annual Salary: R232,438.20 – R301,728.48
