Purpose of the Role
To assist in the implementation and maintenance of Environmental Management Systems for the Kendal Power Station Ash Disposal Facility construction project. The role supports compliance monitoring across multiple subcontractors and ensures that all environmental activities align with statutory legislation, municipal by-laws, and Eskom’s Environmental Management Plan.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Compliance Management

Monitor contractor compliance with environmental laws and project requirements

Maintain and support Environmental Management Systems
-
Conduct audits and report non-compliance
-
Ensure alignment with Eskom's EMP and statutory environmental regulations
Stakeholder Communication & Coordination
-
Liaise with internal teams and clients on environmental issues
-
Attend meetings and provide input on environmental matters
-
Foster awareness and collaboration across multiple project teams
Monitoring & Reporting
-
Track environmental indicators and non-conformance incidents
-
Compile detailed reports for LFC Management and consortium partners

Maintain accurate environmental documentation
Training & Awareness

Deliver environmental inductions and toolbox talks

Promote environmental awareness and compliance culture

Assist with development of environmental training materials
Continuous Improvement

Keep updated on environmental legislation and regulatory trends

Revise environmental procedures as necessary

Support integrated environmental and risk management initiatives
Minimum Qualifications
-
National Diploma in Environmental Management or a related field (required)
Preferred Experience

Previous internship or work exposure in environmental management is advantageous
