About the Role:
The IT Team Leader will oversee IT operations and infrastructure for Control Room environments and associated administrative sites. This role requires managing network security, ensuring infrastructure uptime, vendor management, and leading innovation to improve Control Room technology capabilities. The leader will support 24/7 mission-critical operations and coordinate closely with Group IT.
Key Responsibilities:
IT Operations Management

Lead IT operations across all Control Rooms and administrative locations.

Identify and implement process improvements and standardize procedures.

Ensure alignment with Group IT strategies.
Infrastructure & Network Security
-
Manage networks, servers, and IT infrastructure stability and scalability.

Maintain network security: firewalls, endpoint protection, VPNs, VLANs.

Conduct audits and disaster recovery drills.
-
Manage vendor relationships ensuring timely delivery of services.
Support & Escalation Management
-
Oversee IT support for Control Room users and manage Tier 3 escalations.

Document incidents and resolutions; manage support teams or contractors.

Design and manage on-call support rotations.
Research, Innovation & Development

Scout and test new technologies to improve Control Room capabilities.

Drive technical rollouts nationally, including training and scalability.

Collaborate with vendors and internal teams for technology deployments.

Support business growth with technology strategy inputs.
Skills and Competencies:
Technical Skills:
-
Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, network security protocols, server infrastructure, cloud integrations.

Expertise with endpoint security, VPNs, VLANs, firewall administration.

Familiar with Control Room tech: CCTV, VMS platforms, data centers.

Experience managing Windows Server, Active Directory, remote monitoring, and helpdesk systems.
Soft Skills:

Leadership, decision-making, delegation.

Excellent communication; able to simplify technical terms for operational teams.

Analytical, proactive problem-solving skills.

Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
Qualifications & Experience:

Grade 12 minimum.

Relevant tertiary qualification (IT or related).

5–7 years in IT operations/infrastructure management in 24/7 mission-critical environments (security, emergency services, control rooms preferred).

Experience in network management, vendor oversight, and support structures.
