Position Overview
The Business Unit Manager will report to the Operations Manager and be based in Wadeville. This senior-level role is responsible for overseeing strategic and operational activities of the business unit to ensure sustainable growth, operational excellence, and alignment with company goals.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and enforce Zero Harm safety culture and compliance with global safety standards.

Drive and execute the strategic growth plan for the business unit.

Oversee and manage human capital in line with company policies.

Manage resources to meet productivity, turnaround time, and sales targets.

Ensure adherence to production schedules, quality control, machine builds, and WIP (Work In Progress) targets.

Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) and Operational Excellence (OpEx) initiatives.

Forecast resource requirements and align with capacity planning.

Champion Monozukuri and the K-way principles of Komatsu.

Mentor, train, and motivate staff for performance and development.

Identify new market trends and business opportunities to expand operations.

Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments for integrated growth.
Minimum Requirements
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Production Management, or similar)

Postgraduate qualification in Business or Project Management (advantageous)
-
Supervisory or management course focused on people leadership (advantageous)

Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing/engineering/operations leadership role

In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and lean principles

Experience managing a unionized workforce

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

ERP system experience (preferably SAP)

Valid driver’s license and own transport
