PPC Slurry Factory is situated on the R49 between Mahikeng and Zeerust.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Relevant trade test from an accredited training provider

Diploma or National Certificate in Diesel Plant Fitting
-
Code 08 Driver’s License
-
Knowledge and experience in ERP and management systems: EMS, OMS, On Key
-
Understanding of Performance Management Systems
Minimum Experience
-
5+ years technical experience in heavy industry or mining
-
3+ years supervisory experience in a similar environment
-
Strong knowledge of cement and/or lime quarrying processes and related plant equipment
Key Responsibilities
1. Team & Resource Leadership
-
Manage the garage team and ensure safe, legal, and efficient operation of plant equipment.
-
Promote high equipment reliability and availability.
2. Business Intelligence & Root Cause Analysis
-
Use tools like FMEA, 5 Why, Fishbone to diagnose and address poor maintenance practices.
-
Communicate findings to support continuous improvement.
3. Functional & Maintenance Planning
-
Minimize production downtime through resource planning and scheduling.
-
Collaborate with production teams for shutdowns and maintenance planning.
-
Approve and prioritize non-urgent reactive workorders.
4. Execution of Maintenance
-
Ensure cost-effective and timely completion of workorders by artisans and assistants.
5. Operational Control & Reporting
-
Enforce Operational Best Practices (OBP).
-
Sign off plant temporary change logs and review intangible time bookings.
-
Monitor and report on key engineering metrics through regular team sessions and reports.
6. Governance & Risk Management
-
Ensure compliance with SHE, ISO 9001, legal, and regulatory frameworks.
-
Participate in and act upon JAP audits, health checks, and ad hoc audits.
7. Inventory & Contractor Management
-
Monitor and manage critical spare parts and engineering stock to avoid downtime.
-
Ensure correct specifications and inventory practices.

Oversee and manage contractor work, reconcile labour hours, and authorize payments.
