The SARB also plays an important role in financial stability, prudential regulation, financial markets, financial surveillance, payments and settlements, economic statistics, research, and the issuance of South African banknotes and coins.
Job Purpose
The main purpose of this position is to provide a professional, courteous and efficient reception service to visitors of the South African Reserve Bank.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Receiving and welcoming SARB visitors in a calm, courteous and professional manner.
Ensuring allocated work is completed independently within the required timeframes and standards.
Receiving, screening and responding to incoming telephone calls.
Using initiative to deal with enquiries or directing calls to the appropriate staff members.
Contacting internal hosts promptly when visitors arrive at the Bank.
Responding appropriately to public enquiries and redirecting queries to relevant staff members when necessary.
Registering visitors and managing the issuing and return of visitors’ and parking cards.
Maintaining the visitors’ register.
Administering and maintaining records relating to access-card issuing in accordance with applicable legislation.
Providing regular reports to the Team Leader regarding reception operations.
Identifying and implementing meaningful improvements to work processes within defined standards.
Maintaining a safe, clean and professional reception area.
Operating the switchboard and answering and diverting calls.
Taking and forwarding messages when requested staff members are unavailable.
Assisting with telephone enquiries by maintaining knowledge of matters across different departments.
Recording and reporting on telephone trends and discussions.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
A Higher Certificate (NQF Level 5) in Receptionist Skills, Office Administration or Call Centre.
2–3 years’ reception experience in a corporate environment.
A PSIRA Grade D or E registration will be an added advantage.
Additional Knowledge and Skills
Candidates should have knowledge and skills in:
Operating service-delivery equipment, tools and machinery.
Service-delivery reporting.
Service-delivery processes and procedures.
Professional customer and visitor service.
Telephone and switchboard operations.
General administration and record keeping.
