Job Description
A permanent position for a General Worker (LPT) is available for a suitably qualified and hardworking candidate.
The successful candidate will provide general worker and housekeeping services within the Department and perform various maintenance, cleaning, gardening, loading and material-handling duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
AET / ABET or Grade 10
Sound and in-depth knowledge of providing housekeeping services.
Key Performance Areas and Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Providing general worker services within the Department.
Cutting and maintaining trees.
Maintaining the departmental yard.
Performing cleaning tasks on building exteriors and surrounding areas.
Properly handling and maintaining garden tools and products.
Loading and off-loading furniture, equipment and other goods.
Transporting materials from storage areas to designated workspaces.
Labelling and storing materials as instructed.
Performing general duties allocated by the supervisor.
Operating industrial trucks and electric hoists efficiently to assist with loading and moving materials.
Ensuring that equipment and tools are handled appropriately and safely.
Maintaining good housekeeping in assigned work areas.
Skills and Knowledge
Candidates should have:
Knowledge of housekeeping practices.
Ability to perform general manual work.
Ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
Ability to handle tools, equipment and materials responsibly.
Ability to maintain clean and orderly work areas.
