About Umalusi
The Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi) is a statutory Quality Council responsible for quality assuring education provision in General and Further Education and Training.
Job Description
Umalusi is seeking a professional and customer-focused Receptionist to provide an efficient reception and telephone service while supporting the Public Relations and Communications unit.
Main Duties
Answer, screen and transfer telephone calls to the relevant unit or employee.
Take and relay messages accurately.
Provide information to callers.
Resolve telephone queries where possible.
Deal professionally with queries from members of the public and stakeholders.
Receive and assist walk-in visitors and clients.
Confirm the reason for each visit and contact the relevant employee to accompany the visitor to the appropriate venue or office.
Receive mail and parcels and sign for receipt where applicable.
Liaise with the Records Unit and relevant employees regarding the collection of parcels at reception.
Develop weekly reports.
Assist the Housekeeper with printing meeting schedules.
Ensure that the reception area remains clean, neat and tidy.
Assist the Public Relations and Communications unit with additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualification
Applicants must have one of the following:
National Certificate (Vocational)
National Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
Senior Certificate
Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
Required Skills & Knowledge
Strong computer skills.
Knowledge of Batho Pele principles.
Knowledge of basic office management practices.
Excellent telephone etiquette.
Ability to manage a telephone/calling system.
Experience working on a switchboard.
Knowledge of the education and training environment.
Knowledge of NQF levels.
Advantageous
At least 1 year of relevant experience as a receptionist or call centre agent.
Customer service or call centre-related qualification.
