About the Position
Netcare is recruiting a Ward Administrator for Medical Ward 2 at Netcare Kingsway Hospital. The successful candidate will provide administrative and secretarial support within the ward, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations while delivering excellent service to patients, visitors, doctors, and healthcare staff.
This role is ideal for an organised individual with strong administrative skills who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
2–3 years' experience in an administrative role.
Computer literacy.
Advantageous
Business Administration and/or Secretarial qualification.
Knowledge of SAP IS-H.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Admissions and Bed Management
Welcome patients and assist them with the admission process.
Allocate beds and update patient information systems.
Ensure patient details and ward information boards are kept up to date.
Maintain accurate patient records across SAP, CareON and IMT systems.
Patient Transfers and Discharges
Coordinate patient transfers between wards and healthcare facilities.
Communicate transfer arrangements with nursing staff, doctors and patient families.
Process patient discharges on SAP and CareON.
Ensure discharge documentation is completed and submitted to the billing department.
Assist with arranging follow-up appointments where required.
Ward Administration
Answer telephone calls professionally and take messages.
Schedule nursing staff hours using the Kronos system.
Assist with shift planning and staff administration.
Prepare meeting agendas and take minutes during staff meetings.
Update communication books and digital staff communication groups.
Stock and General Administration
Assist with stock control and stationery management.
Capture manual charge sheets when required.
Maintain accurate patient statistics.
Keep the nurses' station and reception area clean and organised.
Complete and monitor maintenance job cards.
Assist with linen control.
Ensure flowers are delivered to patients.
Conduct hospitality and patient feedback rounds.
Update SharePoint registers and patient management systems.
