Job Description

Premier is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cashier to join its Newcastle Depot team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately processing, recording, reconciling, and safeguarding all cash and cheque transactions on site while ensuring compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics.

  • Computer literacy is essential.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Cashier or in a similar cash-handling role.

Key Responsibilities

Cash and Cheque Processing

  • Receive, count, and record all cash and cheque payments according to company procedures.

  • Ensure Cash Customer Receipts submitted by drivers reconcile with TellerMate slips.

  • Record all cash and cheques deposited into the Drop Safe Register.

  • Obtain required signatures from security personnel, drivers, and the cashier.

  • Capture all cash and cheque transactions accurately on the Cash Receipt Report.

Deposit Preparation and Management

  • Prepare cash and cheque deposits in accordance with company specifications.

  • Record all prepared deposits in the Deposit Register as per standard operating procedures.

  • Hand over deposits to the designated cash collection service provider.

  • Ensure all handovers are accurately recorded and signed off.

Reconciliation and Compliance

  • Verify that bank deposit receipts reconcile fully with the Deposit Register.

  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or anomalies.

  • Conduct daily cash and cheque reconciliations.

  • Ensure reconciliations are accurate and balance with system records.

Administration

  • Maintain accurate records and filing systems.

  • Ensure all documentation is completed and stored according to company requirements.

  • Support administrative processes within the Bakery Administration department.


Working Conditions

  • Fast-paced and pressurised working environment.

  • Six-day work schedule.

  • Required to work weekends and public holidays based on operational requirements.

  • Must be flexible to accommodate business needs.
