Job Description
Discovery Health is seeking a customer-focused and clinically knowledgeable Pre-Authorisation Service Consultant to join its Clinical Services team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering world-class service to Discovery Health members, healthcare providers, hospitals, employer groups, and brokers. This role involves managing pre-authorisation requests, confirming benefits and funding according to scheme rules, and ensuring stakeholders receive accurate and professional support through various service channels.
The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Confirm healthcare benefits in accordance with scheme rules, protocols, and funding guidelines.
Accurately obtain, assess, and capture information required for funding decisions.
Manage and resolve member, provider, broker, employer, and hospital queries.
Provide telephonic and digital support through multiple servicing channels.
Deliver customer-centric service aligned with Discovery's service principles.
Ensure stakeholders receive accurate information regarding benefits and funding.
Stay informed about product updates, benefit changes, and business processes.
Maintain knowledge of digital servicing platforms and tools.
Consistently utilise available servicing systems and resources.
Achieve and exceed service delivery and performance targets.
Manage multiple interactions while maintaining service quality and efficiency.
Support effective risk management relating to in-hospital admissions.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
Grade 12 (Matric).
South African accredited Clinical Qualification.
Knowledge
Sound understanding of Anatomy and Physiology.
Knowledge of healthcare funding and medical scheme environments will be advantageous.
Experience
Minimum of 6 months' experience in a customer service or clinical environment.
