Job Overview
Khayelitsha District Hospital is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Administration Clerk: Admissions to provide efficient patient admission and registration services within the hospital environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for patient registration, admissions, transfers, discharges, handling patient-related enquiries, and managing cash collection processes. This role requires strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and experience working within a hospital admissions environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Admissions & Registration
Register patients accurately on the Clinicom System.
Admit inpatients and process patient discharges.
Facilitate patient transfers between wards and healthcare facilities.
Ensure all patient information is accurately captured and verified.
Reception & Customer Service
Conduct patient assessments at the reception point.
Provide professional assistance to patients and visitors.
Handle written and telephonic enquiries relating to patient admissions.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with patient information.
Financial Administration
Receive and process public payments in accordance with hospital procedures.
Handle cash transactions responsibly and accurately.
Perform daily cash collection and reconciliation duties.
Transfer collected funds to the main cashier as required.
Records Management
Maintain accurate patient admission records.
Ensure proper filing and updating of patient information.
Adhere to hospital policies regarding documentation and record keeping.
Operational Support
Assist with administrative functions within the admissions department.
Support hospital operations by ensuring efficient patient flow.
Participate in departmental duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Requirements
Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
Appropriate experience in patient admissions within a hospital environment.
Appropriate experience working with the Clinicom System.
Additional Requirements
Knowledge of hospital fees and admissions procedures.
Knowledge of Chapter 18 Admissions Memorandum.
Knowledge of UPFS and HIS systems.
Computer literacy in:
