About the Position
Ampath Laboratories is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Branch Administrator to support the daily operations of its Kassier Laboratory and Care Centre in Assagay, KwaZulu-Natal.
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy administration, customer service, and working in a healthcare environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring administrative processes run efficiently, supporting specimen processing, maintaining accurate records, and delivering a positive experience for patients and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support
Capture and maintain accurate information and records.
Prepare and manage documentation and routine correspondence.
Ensure administrative activities are completed accurately and on time.
Maintain organised filing and record-keeping systems.
Patient Reception and Customer Service
Welcome and assist patients visiting the Care Centre.
Guide patients through requisition forms and registration processes.
Capture patient details on the laboratory information system.
Answer incoming calls and respond to routine enquiries.
Assist patients with billing queries and account-related matters.
Financial Administration
Process cash and card payments accurately.
Generate pro forma invoices when required.
Assist with benefits verification and related administrative checks.
Maintain confidentiality when handling financial information.
Laboratory Support
Receive and verify specimens against test requests.
Label and batch specimens according to established protocols.
Prepare specimens for processing and transport.
Assist in ensuring reports are delivered promptly to doctors and healthcare facilities.
Minimum Requirements
Essential Requirements
Grade 12 (Matric).
0–4 years of administrative experience.
Good computer literacy and proficiency in standard office applications.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Ability to work accurately and pay close attention to detail.
Advantageous Requirements
Previous experience in a pathology laboratory or healthcare environment.
Exposure to medical administration processes.
