Job Purpose:

To ensure safety and security by conducting patrols, enforcing access control, supporting risk management, and responding to emergencies across the Waterval Smelter site.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patrols (on foot, bicycle, or vehicle) and checkpoint duties.

  • Follow instructions and apply security standards and procedures.

  • Respond to alarms and incidents as per protocol.

  • Enforce access control measures and report irregularities.

  • Use equipment such as radios and telephones effectively.

  • Promote security awareness among staff and visitors.

  • Support investigations by gathering information and acting as a witness.

  • Maintain professional image, clean facilities, and equipment.

  • Complete administrative duties and attend required meetings (Safety, Health, Environment).

  • Perform arrests in line with legal guidelines when necessary.


Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

Certification:

  • PSIRA Grade C registration (mandatory)

Experience:

  • Prior experience in a patrol or security role is advantageous


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking)

  • Able to respond to and handle emergency situations effectively

  • Team player with strong communication skills

  • Observant, alert, and committed to upholding safety and dignity standards
