Job Purpose:
To support the workshop in maintaining and servicing the delivery fleet through scheduled maintenance, preventive checks, and attending to breakdowns (including after-hours). This role helps ensure optimal fleet performance and compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Fleet Maintenance & Support:
-
Assist mechanics with vehicle servicing and repairs according to the maintenance schedule.

Respond to breakdowns and assist in resolving mechanical issues, including after-hours support.

Properly use mechanical and electronic tools and handle workshop equipment with care.

Clean and maintain workshop area in compliance with HSEMS (Health, Safety & Environmental Management System).

Follow lead mechanic instructions and perform assigned tasks safely and efficiently.

Ensure waste disposal follows environmental procedures.

Maintain good housekeeping at both the work site and accommodation areas.
Safety & Compliance:

Carry out all duties in a manner aligned with safety protocols and company procedures.

Participate in and comply with all safety regulations and maintenance policies.

Gain technical knowledge relevant to a Mechanic Assistant’s role.
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Qualifications:
-
Required: Matric (Grade 12)
-
Advantageous: Diesel Mechanic Qualification
Experience:
-
2–3 years in an FMCG workshop or similar mechanical environment.
-
Experience working on FAW, Fuso, Hino, and Nissan trucks is a strong advantage.
Knowledge & Skills:

General understanding of various delivery vehicle models.

Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on ability.

Basic knowledge of workshop tools and gauges.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
