Purpose of the Role

The key purpose of this role is for the incumbent to be trained as a qualified tradesperson and to gain knowledge and experience as an artisan in the electrical trade.


Key Outputs and Responsibilities

  • Complete the 3–4-year apprenticeship programme as per company/SETA requirements

  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment

  • Comply with all safety, health, and environmental procedures and legislation

  • Keep the working environment safe and clean

  • Gain knowledge and hands-on experience in the trade

  • Locate plant, equipment, spares, and relevant documentation/systems

  • Plan, budget, and prepare for jobs

  • Evaluate and repair breakdowns and perform maintenance

  • Continuously improve and optimise plant, process equipment, and systems

  • Develop machine-specific technical competence


Candidate Profile

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science

  • Minimum: National Technical Certificate (N4) in Electrical

  • Advantageous: N5 or N6 in the relevant engineering discipline

  • Engineering aptitude
