Purpose of the Role
The key purpose of this role is for the incumbent to be trained as a qualified tradesperson and to gain knowledge and experience as an artisan in the electrical trade.
Key Outputs and Responsibilities

Complete the 3–4-year apprenticeship programme as per company/SETA requirements

Maintain a safe and healthy working environment
-
Comply with all safety, health, and environmental procedures and legislation
-
Keep the working environment safe and clean
-
Gain knowledge and hands-on experience in the trade
-
Locate plant, equipment, spares, and relevant documentation/systems
-
Plan, budget, and prepare for jobs
-
Evaluate and repair breakdowns and perform maintenance
-
Continuously improve and optimise plant, process equipment, and systems
-
Develop machine-specific technical competence
Candidate Profile
-
Grade 12 with Mathematics & Science
-
Minimum: National Technical Certificate (N4) in Electrical
-
Advantageous: N5 or N6 in the relevant engineering discipline

Engineering aptitude
