Job Overview:
BTT is seeking to appoint a dedicated Plant Operator at our Richards Bay Operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment on a shift basis, including the offloading and loading of rail tankers, road tankers, and vessels.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Grade 12 / National Certificate with Mathematics and Science (essential)

At least 1 year of experience in plant operations, preferably in the chemical industry

Passed out in at least one operational plant

Fluent in English (read, write, and speak)

Basic computer literacy
Key Responsibilities:
-
Safely load and offload rail tankers, road tankers, and vessels in line with standard operating procedures and work instructions

Connect and disconnect pipe systems for equipment safe-making and pigging processes

Ensure proper tank line-up for loading/offloading activities

Commission equipment post-maintenance as per procedures

Perform accurate tank dipping; record and report all results to the Supervisor

Complete all daily plant logbooks and checklists; report any deviations immediately

Accompany and assist contractors during operational entry

Participate in emergency response and firefighting activities

Conduct scheduled weekly deluge testing
