Purpose of the Role

The Credit Application Clerk is responsible for reviewing and processing credit applications from both new and existing customers. This includes ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant, conducting credit checks, and coordinating with relevant departments to support efficient credit approvals.

Key Responsibilities

Review all incoming credit applications for completeness and accuracy
Capture customer and application data into the credit management system
Conduct credit checks using internal tools or external agencies
Verify trade references and financial documents
Communicate with customers to resolve incomplete or unclear applications
Maintain organized and accurate records of all credit applications
Assist in evaluating creditworthiness and recommending appropriate credit limits
Collaborate with Sales and Finance teams to support onboarding
Ensure compliance with internal credit policies
Generate regular reports on credit application status

Requirements

Education:
- Grade 12 Certificate (or equivalent) – Required
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Finance or related field – Advantageous
Experience:
- 1–2 years in a credit, administrative, or finance-related role
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time management abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Familiarity with credit scoring systems and financial documentation – Advantageous
- Ability to handle confidential data with integrity
