Job Purpose

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations. This includes managing staff, inventory, and processes to ensure efficient storage, retrieval, and distribution of goods. The role focuses on optimizing productivity, cost-effectiveness, and customer service while ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12

  • Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain and Logistics Management

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the FMCG industry

  • Experience managing a small fleet of vehicles

  • Knowledge of chemical storage and associated risks

  • Experience using Cargowise Warehouse Management System

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Onboard clients onto the Cargowise 1 Warehouse Management System

  • Set up automated stock reports for clients

  • Ensure Cargowise system is used effectively for stock takes

  • Conduct cycle counts weekly across the product range

  • Perform monthly physical stock counts per SLA requirements

  • Submit cycle count and stock take results to clients

Operations:

  • Perform weekly CHEP reconciliations

  • Review daily Material Handling Equipment (MHE) checklists and address issues

  • Log and investigate claims or potential claims

  • Manage warehouse layout and space optimization

  • Implement quality checks for product integrity

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies

Client Interaction:

  • Address client complaints in a timely manner

  • Submit a monthly report on complaints to the General Manager

  • Attend SLA meetings with clients when required

People Management:

  • Lead and manage warehouse staff, assign tasks, and ensure proper training

  • Oversee contract labor management

Finance:

  • Ensure operational billing activities are accounted for monthly

  • Review monthly billing schedules

  • Implement cost control measures

Management Reports:

  • Compile monthly reports, including:

    • CHEP recon

    • EC scorecard

    • Stock loss report

    • Operational Report

    • OTP Progress report

    • Management review pack
