Floor Assistant Job Vacancy at VKB Group – GWK Retail Douglas
VKB Group is currently looking for a Floor Assistant to join the GWK Retail and Input Retail team in Douglas, Northern Cape.
The VKB Group is an agricultural company with a strong focus on supporting farmers and producing quality farm-to-table food products for consumers. The Group operates through a portfolio of brands including VKB, GWK and NTK, with operations extending across the agricultural and food supply chain.
The successful candidate will assist with the movement, preparation and merchandising of stock within the GWK Retail store while ensuring that merchandise is correctly marked, displayed and packed onto shelves.

Job Purpose
The Floor Assistant will be responsible for drawing merchandise from the stockroom as requested, marking merchandise and bringing stock onto the retail floor.
The successful candidate will also assist with packing merchandise onto shelves and ensuring that products are appropriately handled and presented within the store.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 or NQF Level 4.
- Previous experience in agricultural retail will be an advantage.
- At least 1–3 years' experience in transport, warehousing or logistics operations.
- Knowledge of load planning, weight distribution and safety regulations.
- Ability to work weekends and public holidays according to the roster.
- Ability to perform physically demanding and heavy-duty tasks.
- Physically fit and able to handle manual work.
- Clear criminal record.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Drawing merchandise from the stockroom as requested.
- Marking merchandise and bringing stock onto the retail floor.
- Packing merchandise onto shelves.
- Planning, directing and overseeing the loading and unloading of cargo and goods.
- Ensuring correct weight distribution and securing of loads in accordance with safety requirements.
- Inspecting cargo and documentation for accuracy before dispatch.
- Coordinating with drivers, dispatchers and warehouse staff.
- Maintaining accurate records of loads, movements and reconciliations.
- Monitoring and reporting deviations, damages or incidents during loading and unloading.
- Following company procedures and safety requirements.
- Maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
- Upholding the values of VKB Group.
- Providing a high level of service to customers and colleagues.
