Job Advert Summary
A permanent vacancy currently exists for 1x Room Attendant at Mountain Zebra National Park.
The Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation in guest accommodation and public areas within the park. The role requires a strong customer-service focus, attention to detail, effective time management, and the ability to consistently deliver services in accordance with SANParks tourism standards and procedures.
The successful candidate will contribute to a clean, safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment for guests by maintaining chalets and public spaces, monitoring inventory, reporting maintenance issues, and assisting with laundry duties when required.
The position requires an individual who is professional, organised, responsive to customer needs, and committed to maintaining excellent service standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / NCV Level 4.
- 1–2 years' work experience in a public cleaning or tourism environment.
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
- Knowledge of SANParks Tourism Standard Procedures.
- Health and Safety awareness.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to clean and maintain public spaces.
- Good time-management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Planning and organising skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean in and around chalets, including changing bed linen, sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming, polishing furniture, and emptying trash containers.
- Clean and maintain public areas to the required standards.
- Report abnormalities and any issues identified during cleaning to the supervisor.
- Control inventory items and ensure the appropriate quantities are available in chalets.
- Report maintenance defects in the maintenance register.
- Assist with laundry duties when necessary.
- Deliver high-quality services and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Manage customer expectations effectively.
- Address customer needs in a professional and timely manner.
- Evaluate customer service and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Respond to and anticipate client needs using effective interpersonal skills.
- Provide assistance in a timely, professional, helpful, and courteous manner.
- Strive to consistently meet established service standards.
- Effectively plan, schedule, prioritise, and control daily activities.
