Reaction Officer – Grade B Job Vacancy
Servest Security is looking for a Reaction Officer – Grade B to join its Operations team in Secunda, Mpumalanga.
The successful candidate will be responsible for visible security patrols, responding to emergencies and call-outs, protecting client and company assets, and supporting the implementation and maintenance of an effective security system at the mine.
The Reaction Officer will also assist with the supervision and leadership of security personnel.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Matric / Grade 12.
Alternatively, Grade 10 or Grade 11 with a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience.
Valid PSIRA Grade B Certificate.
Valid Armed Reaction Certificate.
Minimum 2–3 years' experience in the security industry.
At least 2 years' experience as a Reaction Officer or in armed response.
Experience in patrolling, alarm response and emergency handling.
Firearm competency certificate for the relevant categories, including:
Handgun
Shotgun
Rifle
Firearm competency for business purposes.
Valid firearm permit issued by the relevant company or authority.
Knowledge of security operations and procedures.
Valid Armed Response Certificate not older than 5 years.
No criminal record and valid SAPS fingerprint clearance.
Medical fitness certificate.
Valid driver's licence.
Must reside in Secunda.
Skills & Competencies
The ideal candidate should have:
Excellent driving skills.
Code 8 / B driver's licence; Code 10 / C1 may be preferred.
Sound knowledge of firearm safety and handling procedures.
Ability to assess and respond quickly to threats and emergencies.
Strong radio and verbal communication skills.
Fluency in English.
Good incident reporting and observation skills.
Basic computer literacy for report logging and email communication.
Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Conducting visible security patrols and responding to emergencies and call-outs.
Developing and maintaining an effective information network to support the collection, evaluation and coordination of security-related information.
Contributing to the detection and prevention of offences relating to fraud and theft.
Reporting all crime and mine-related information to the Shift Supervisor, delegate or appointed representative.
Investigating criminal activities and crime scenes and managing such scenes appropriately.
Reporting all investigations and related actions to the Shift Supervisor without delay.
Monitoring the application of security measures on the client's premises.
Reporting the results of security monitoring activities to the Shift Supervisor.
Attending mandatory parades 15 minutes before the commencement of each shift at the designated area.
Ensuring that the assigned vehicle is inspected and in good operating condition before performing duties.
Taking appropriate lawful action when a person commits an offence warranting arrest in accordance with applicable legislation and company procedures.
Investigating irregularities and suspicious activities reported to the Reaction Officer.
Immediately contacting the Security Control Room (TCS) when suspicions or irregularities are confirmed.
Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of an effective and efficient security system.
Protecting company and client assets against theft, abuse, misappropriation, wilful damage and loss.
Supporting the supervision and coordination of security personnel.
Leading the security team when required.
