Job Description
Sea Harvest, a proudly South African integrated fishing and food processing company, is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Reach Truck Driver to join its team in Cape Town.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient and accurate movement of palletized fish and frozen products within the cold store.
The role also involves locating and scanning pallets for dispatch, receiving and storing inbound stock, and assisting with inventory counts to ensure accurate stock control.
Role Overview
The Reach Truck Driver will:
Move palletized products efficiently within the cold store.
Locate and scan pallets for dispatch.
Receive and store inbound stock.
Assist with stock counts and inventory control.
Ensure products are stored correctly and safely.
Maintain accurate stock movement records.
Key Responsibilities
Order Preparation & Dispatch
Receive orders from the supervisor in a timely manner.
Use the reach truck to locate the required orders inside the cold store.
Scan orders out accurately.
Feed orders to the Hyster driver efficiently.
Receive inbound orders from the Hyster driver.
Scan incoming stock and store it accurately using the reach truck.
Cold Store Operations
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Operating a reach truck to load, unload, transport, stack and retrieve frozen products.
Moving stock between production areas, blast freezers, holding freezers and dispatch areas.
Maintaining correct stock rotation according to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
Ensuring products are stored safely and correctly.
Inventory Control
Assist with daily stock counts.
Participate in cycle counts and annual stock takes.
Verify product quantities.
Check pallet labels and storage locations.
Report stock discrepancies.
Report damaged products and incorrect stock allocations.
Complete stock movement documentation accurately.
Equipment & Safety
Conduct pre-shift inspections of the reach truck.
Complete required equipment checklists.
Report mechanical defects and equipment damage immediately.
Report safety hazards to the relevant supervisor.
Operate the reach truck according to company safety standards and procedures.
Ensure safe stacking heights and correct pallet configurations.
Maintain good housekeeping within the work area.
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants must have:
Grade 12 (Matric).
At least 2 years' experience operating a reach truck.
Experience in a cold storage, warehouse or food manufacturing environment.
A valid Reach Truck Operator Licence/Certificate.
A forklift licence will be an advantage.
