Job Description

AVBOB is looking for customer-oriented and self-reliant individuals to join its Call Centre team in Centurion.

The successful candidates will work within a well-established organisation that values strong service, employee development and excellent performance.

The role forms part of the Financial Services Department and involves assisting clients with policy enquiries, policy maintenance, claims-related enquiries, outstanding requirements and other insurance-related matters.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12.

  • 140 long-term FAIS credits.

  • 1–2 years' experience in the Life Insurance Industry.

  • Experience in a client service and policy maintenance environment.

  • RE5 qualification will be advantageous.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Ability to show initiative and take responsibility.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Leadership skills.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong client-orientated approach.

Key Responsibilities

Call Centre & Client Service

  • Receive and handle telephone policy enquiries and take appropriate action.

  • Provide clients with relevant policy information.

  • Provide policy values to clients or authorised brokers.

  • Provide enquiry numbers on claims to branches.

  • Record all instances of client consent on the system so that previous consents are available to Call Centre agents.

  • Provide assistance and information to clients in accordance with applicable procedures.

New Business & Applications

  • Address outstanding requirements relating to new applications in New Business.

  • Follow up on outstanding documentation and requirements.

  • Assist with policy-related administrative queries.

Claims & Debtors

  • Follow up on outstanding requirements relating to unpaid claims.

  • Provide feedback on outstanding accounts and refunds in the debtors environment.

  • Follow up on non-payment of premiums, default payments and incorrect deductions.

  • Refer appropriate leads to the Direct Marketing Department.

Policy Maintenance

The successful candidate may assist with various policy maintenance activities, including:

  • Adding a life to an existing policy, excluding PERSAL and Department of Defence (DOD) policies.

  • Adding a child to an existing child benefit, excluding PERSAL and DOD.

  • Removing a life from a policy, excluding PERSAL and DOD.

  • Removing a child where the child benefit itself is not being completely removed.

  • Duplicating policies and sending copies to clients.

  • Providing policy information to clients.

  • Processing paid-up RSA requests and reduced sum assured amendments.

  • Processing inflation-related amendments.

  • Processing reinstatements.

  • Processing cessions.

  • Processing stop-payment requests.

  • Processing other loan-related changes where the payment method is changed.

Cessions & Documentation

  • Assist clients with cession-related enquiries.

  • Ensure clients understand that a hard copy of the cession must still be submitted as the cession is a legal document.

  • Ensure all required documentation and information are processed according to applicable procedures.

Compliance & FAIS Requirements

Certain policy changes and transactions may only be processed once the required controls are in place.

These include:

  • Security questions that do not simply confirm the client's existing contact details.

  • Call Centre agents being Category B FAIS accredited.

  • Where an agent is not yet accredited, the agent must work under the appropriate supervision and have the required arrangements in place with an accredited Key Individual.

The successful candidate will be expected to comply with applicable regulatory, FAIS and internal company requirements when handling client information and policy transactions.
