Job Overview
Wits Donald Gordon Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated Care Worker to join its Transplant ICU team in Parktown, Johannesburg. This permanent position offers an opportunity to support nursing staff in delivering safe, high-quality patient care while contributing to a positive healthcare experience for patients and their families.
The successful candidate will assist with patient care activities, provide administrative support, ensure compliance with hospital policies, and contribute to maintaining a safe and efficient healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care Support
Assist nursing unit staff in delivering quality patient care.
Support patient wellbeing through a team-based approach.
Contribute to a positive patient experience within the unit.
Risk Management & Compliance
Identify and report risks in accordance with hospital policies.
Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures.
Support safe healthcare practices within the unit.
Administrative Support
Provide administrative assistance to nursing staff as required.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Report and document events, incidents, and completed tasks.
Learning & Development
Participate in continuous personal and professional development.
Contribute to a learning environment that promotes staff competence.
Stock Management
Assist with monitoring and utilising stock efficiently.
Ensure supplies are accurately charged and accounted for.
Support inventory control processes within the unit.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Essential:
Appropriate qualification as a Care Worker
Advantageous:
Grade 12 (Matric)
Experience
Essential:
Experience working in a healthcare environment
Advantageous:
