Purpose of the Position
The Driver will provide safe, reliable, and efficient driving services to support outreach and programme activities. The role includes transporting outreach teams, commodities, and equipment using mobile units, while ensuring compliance with road safety regulations and maintaining assigned vehicles in good working condition.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric certificate

Minimum of 2 years’ driving experience

Valid Code A driver’s licence

Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP)

Clear criminal record
-
Good communication skills
-
Ability to communicate in English and at least one other local language (Zulu, Setswana, Sesotho, Xhosa or Afrikaans)

Understanding of specimen handling and transportation

Practical knowledge of South African road legislation

South African citizen or valid work permit
-
Willingness to work overtime when required
Key Duties and Responsibilities
-
Comply with relevant legislation and organisational policies related to vehicle use and maintenance
-
Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report defects to the relevant manager
-
Provide safe and reliable transport for staff, equipment, and commodities
-
Ensure the safety and security of staff and vehicles during outreach activities
-
Maintain accurate daily transport logs and submit petrol slips weekly
-
Assist with additional activities at outreach and testing sites as directed by line management
-
Support HIV testing and TB screening activities when required

Conduct mapping and site profiling
-
Observe all road traffic laws and safe driving practices
-
Ensure emergency contact numbers are available in the vehicle
