Main Purpose of the Job:
To assist patients in all aspects of admissions and discharges in a professional manner, preventing operational and financial risks to the organisation while exceeding client expectations.
Key Responsibility Areas:

Capture and process admissions (including pre-admissions/bookings) in line with procedure

Identify and prevent financial risks by adhering to policies and procedures

Ensure a smooth and efficient discharge process as per the Patient Administration Manual

Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times

Essential: Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent

Reception or administrative experience

Experience in a private healthcare facility

Required Skills and Knowledge:

Debtpack Enquiry Application (checking outstanding amounts/blacklisted patients)

Knowledge of Admission, Bed Functions, and Discharge Procedures

Understanding of Anatomy and Medical Terminology
-
Operation of hospital switchboard systems
-
Familiarity with patient administration policies and procedures (e.g., confidentiality, cash handling, bed overrides)

Experience with AS400 system for patient admin

Microsoft Office proficiency
-
Knowledge of ICD and CPT codes

Understanding of Medical Aid Schemes and the private healthcare environment

Knowledge of Workman's Compensation Act (WCA)

Familiarity with emergency protocols (e.g., fire, floods, robbery)

Ability to identify financial risks, such as blacklisted patients or handling valuables
