Job Summary

Rand Water seeks a skilled Industry Account Executive to lead customer operations for the Industry and Direct Consumer segment. The role involves optimizing client operations and maintenance, ensuring contractual compliance, managing technical queries, resolving account issues, and strengthening strategic customer relationships.

Minimum Requirements

Education:
- Three-year Diploma or Degree in Engineering (accredited institution)
- Postgraduate degree desirable
Experience:
- 5+ years in bulk water infrastructure operations
- 5+ years in the water sector including technical and process experience

Primary Duties

Provide technical and operational support to industrial and direct consumer customers
Advise clients on water services optimization and maintenance
Resolve technical, financial, and water quality queries through structured meetings
Prepare and present progress reports, invoices, and strategic plans
Manage customer relationships and build trust through regular engagement
Monitor customer accounts, follow up on payments, and implement credit control measures
Ensure compliance with Rand Water’s General Water Supply Conditions Contract, PMFA, and PAJA
Lead the development of business plans and monitor performance metrics
Address non-compliance and guide customers toward corrective actions
Support internal strategic planning on customer-related issues

Knowledge Requirements

Deep understanding of bulk water infrastructure, maintenance, and sector dynamics
Project management and budgeting knowledge
Key account and stakeholder relationship management
Familiarity with strategic planning principles and Microsoft Office suite

Skills

Strong communication (verbal, written, presentation)
Business proposal development
Customer service and account management
Commercial acumen and negotiation
Ability to align operations, financials, and customer needs

Attitude & Other Requirements

Technically confident in water sector operations
Self-starter, team-oriented, resilient under pressure
Skilled negotiator and mediator
Willingness to travel as needed
