Purpose of Job
Execute the fuel distribution function’s strategy, objectives, and goals and ensure that existing policies, procedures, and processes are followed to meet customer needs and expectations. Ensure alignment with ISO / OHSAS / responsible care legal and environmental requirements. Verify that fuel deliveries are executed on time, accurately, in compliance with quality requirements, and safely to customers. Direct activities aimed at reducing costs, improving accuracy related to documentation and administrative tasks, enhancing customer service, securing a safe working environment for all employees, and managing various operational risks. Assist in planning and execution in relation to operational challenges such as product shortages, strikes, system failures, and price increases. Ensure compliance with legislation and governance with respect to policies and procedures, especially relating to fuel theft.
Key Accountabilities

Ensure compliance with both normal and emergency overtime as per company policy.

Support the development of subordinates according to agreed PDPs and implement disciplinary action where appropriate.

Manage absenteeism and refer employees to EAP where applicable, aiming to reduce absenteeism and maintain a reliable workforce and fleet.

Coordinate on-time and accurate execution of all fuel deliveries using both own and contractor fleet.

Maintain communication with the Logistics Command Centre and compile/validate shipment packs, ensuring compliance with LCC delivery sequences.

Execute LCC briefing and debriefing of Fuel Distribution Operators (FDO).

Report, log, and investigate incidents, and propose corrective and preventive measures as required.

Manage operating costs in alignment with the set budget, including monitoring driver overtime, travel costs, and PPE expenses.

Identify and implement cost-saving ideas such as reducing contractor reliance by optimizing internal driver performance.

Identify potential operational risks including OSHACT requirements, and ensure mitigation via preventative controls.

Ensure compliance with SHE audits (including SQAS for own fleet) and implement turnaround plans for SHERQ results.

Ensure prompt and accurate submission of customer documentation, and resolve any deviations.

Maintain governance and compliance with legislation (e.g. National Road Traffic Act, AARTO, Labour Law), policies, ISO, OSHAS, and responsible care standards.

Continuously improve and implement controls to mitigate economic crime (e.g. fuel theft).

Assist in executing contingency plans for labour actions (e.g. strikes) and price fluctuations.

Contribute to plans ensuring delivery completion during product shortages.

Apply evidence-based SHE practices aligned with safety standards.

Implement Sasol Group’s risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework.

Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders for effective control implementation.
