Purpose of the Job

The Trainee Manager will be responsible for meeting daily operational requirements under the direction of the Branch Manager and through the Trainee Manager Programme. Responsibilities include coordinating and executing tasks related to:

  • Sales

  • Customer service

  • Merchandising

  • Stock and inventory control

  • Cash handling and banking

  • Financial and system administration

  • Staff supervision and scheduling

  • Store compliance and customer experience


Role Description

  • Achieve sales and profit targets by executing divisional strategies

  • Deliver customer service excellence in all store areas (appearance, merchandise display, store layout, etc.)

  • Handle customer complaints in line with company policies

  • Track and report performance against daily targets

  • Monitor inventory and ensure regular quality checks

  • Prevent stock loss through compliance with security and cash handling procedures

  • Implement pricing policies and promote sales activities

  • Order merchandise and manage stock replenishment

  • Perform administrative functions such as staff paperwork, reports, and sales records

  • Manage cash reconciliation and transaction reporting

  • Ensure compliance with all sales and security procedures

  • Assist in staff management, scheduling, performance management, and training

  • Monitor health and safety policy compliance

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent

Desirable:

  • Tertiary qualification in retail or a related field


Experience

Desirable:

  • FMCG experience in a retail environment


Knowledge and Skills

Desirable:

  • Product knowledge

  • Familiarity with store systems

  • Stock management expertise

  • Ability to analyze and interpret store reports
