Regional People Partner – Western Cape

Purpose of the Role
To provide end-to-end People (HR) operational support within a designated region, enabling effective people practices aligned with the strategic and operational goals of the business. This role works closely with the Divisional People Partner to ensure optimal workforce planning, talent management, compliance, and operational efficiency across the Western Cape region.


Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic & Operational HR Execution

  • Support execution of the Divisional People Strategy and Roadmap

  • Input into workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and structural changes

  • Deliver full lifecycle People services, including IR, talent management, learning, and succession planning

  • Lead regional People-related projects and initiatives

  • Guide line managers on policy, disciplinary processes, and compliance

2. Talent & Performance Management

  • Coordinate performance reviews, personal development, and training

  • Identify skills gaps and implement learning initiatives

  • Oversee employee wellness, engagement, and retention programs

3. Data, Reporting & Analysis

  • Maintain accurate HR data across the region

  • Monitor and report on People trends to guide decision-making

  • Leverage reporting tools for planning and tracking

4. Governance, Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure compliance with HR policies and labour legislation

  • Identify and manage People-related risks in the region

  • Implement governance structures and regional risk plans

5. Change & Technology Adoption

  • Drive adoption of HR systems and employee experience technology

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement

  • Support organisational change and communication efforts


Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources or equivalent (essential)

  • Experience in the retail or FMCG sector (preferred)

  • Candidates without a degree but with substantial HR generalist experience will be considered


Experience & Knowledge Requirements

  • 3+ years’ HR Business Partner or equivalent experience

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Labour legislation and compliance

    • Talent development and performance management

    • Skills planning and reporting

    • Industrial relations practices

    • HR metrics and data analysis

    • Diversity and transformation
