Role Overview:

Reports to Section Manager Planning.
-
Responsible for planning, designing, and scheduling major mining activities.
-
Coordinate integration of mine plans across departments.
-
Assist with budget and Life of Mine (LOM) processes.
-
Compile reconciliations and support marketing and management plans.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Develop designs, detailed plans, and short-term schedules.
-
Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations for compliance reporting.
-
Support planning meetings with presentations and reports.
-
Liaise with Activity Engineers and departments such as Survey, Geology, Environmental, Metallurgy, and Engineering.

Contribute to annual budget and LOM planning.
Requirements:
Qualification:
-
National Diploma / Degree in Mining Engineering OR
-
Relevant Opencast mining qualifications with recognition for prior learning and experience.
Experience:
-
Minimum 6 years mining experience.
-
At least 2 years in mining production as supervisor or 2 years as Planning Officer.

Experience with mine planning software (3D-dig, Microstation, Dragsim, Deswik).
-
Knowledge of mine design, drill & blast, pre-stripping, dragline, truck & shovel, and coaling.

Understanding of mining legislation and operational standards.
-
Ability to work under pressure and handle varying workloads.
-
Strong analytical, financial budgeting, and communication skills.

Computer literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
-
Valid driver’s license and own transport.
-
Certificate of Fitness (or able to obtain).

Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency.
