Job Purpose

The role of the Counter Salesman is to meet sales targets, provide excellent customer service, and maintain strong client relationships. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting customers at the counter, handling inquiries, processing quotations, and supporting branch operations.

Key Responsibilities

Manage counter sales to maximize customer satisfaction and sales potential
Achieve sales targets as set by the Sales, Branch, or Retail Manager
Plan and report on customer sales potential and performance
Monitor and report on competitor pricing and activities
Maintain and grow the customer base in the assigned geographical area
Provide quotations, product information, and pricing to inbound customer inquiries
Work closely with other departments (Accounts, Despatch, Warehousing, Receiving, Technical) to ensure smooth operations and resolve customer queries
Support business growth by strengthening relationships with existing customers and identifying new opportunities

Minimum Requirements

Matric (Grade 12)
At least 2 years’ experience in a parts sales environment
Proven sales experience dealing directly with customer needs
Strong knowledge of the local geographical area
Technical background is advantageous

Key Skills and Attributes

Team player
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Good business understanding, including cost and breakeven considerations
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Effective planning and time management skills
