Position Overview:
Curro Somerset West is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Bus Driver to support school operations by transporting learners safely and assisting with general maintenance across the school’s facilities. This position plays a vital role in both student safety and the day-to-day functioning of the campus.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Valid EC1 or C1 driver’s license (heavy motor vehicle up to 16,000 kg) with a valid PDP
-
Grade 12 (Matric)
-
Clear criminal record
-
Fluent in English
-
Experience in school bus driving or a similar position (advantageous)

Punctual, responsible, reliable, and helpful

Able to work as part of a team and communicate effectively with learners, staff, and parents

Willing to work overtime when required
Key Responsibilities:
Learner Transportation:
-
Transport students along designated routes according to time schedules
-
Pick up and drop off learners at approved stops
-
Drive for school outings and field trips, planning routes as needed

Maintain order and discipline on the bus in line with school policy
General Worker Duties:
-
Perform basic facility maintenance, such as plumbing or general repairs

Support security and access control efforts across campus
-
Assist in traffic management during drop-off and pick-up times
-
Conduct daily facility inspections and report any issues to the facilities manager
-
Maintain tools and supplies for both maintenance and gardening

Perform garden maintenance, including mowing, watering, and cleaning outdoor areas
Health and Safety:
-
Conduct daily safety checks on the bus

Report mechanical issues promptly
-
Ensure vehicles are fueled, clean, and in good operating condition
-
Participate in safety drills and attend required health and safety meetings
Record Keeping:
-
Maintain accurate mileage logs, passenger counts, and related reports
Work Environment:
You will be supporting Curro Somerset West’s operations across Preschool, Primary School, and High School levels.
