Job Purpose

To manage and control the inventory system within the conversion process (preparation, extrusion, and packaging), ensuring accurate tracking of material movement, consumption, waste, and finished goods. The role focuses on driving improvements, managing stock integrity, and reducing inventory losses.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform weekly cycle counts on top 15 materials with highest physical/financial loss.

  • Coordinate monthly stock counts as per company procedures.

  • Conduct variance analysis for both cycle and stock counts.

  • Lead inventory improvement initiatives to reduce losses.

  • Develop and maintain a scrap monitoring and write-off system for packaging material.

  • Align physical inventory processes with ERP system operations.

  • Monitor and verify all incoming materials are receipted correctly.

  • Ensure adherence to First-Expired-First-Out (FEFO) inventory principles.

  • Continuously reconcile system stock with physical stock and investigate discrepancies.

  • Ensure accurate loading and invoicing of SDO stock.

  • Report safety and quality incidents.

  • Validate that production shipments match ERP entries and SKU production plans.

  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and One-Point Lessons (OPLs).

  • Analyze stock reports and suggest SOP updates for better accuracy.

  • Meet key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, accuracy, and housekeeping.


Minimum Requirements

  • Education:

    • Matric (Grade 12) – required

    • Diploma or Advanced Certificate in Economics or Warehouse Management (NQF 6) – required

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 3 years in inventory management, warehouse management, and stock control for conversion processes

    • Experience in statistical data analysis and operational execution

  • Skills:

    • Advanced Excel proficiency

    • Strong analytical and process improvement skills

    • ERP systems knowledge (preferably SAP or similar)

    • Good communication and leadership abilities
