Job Overview

This role ensures compliance with key financial legislation and regulations such as FAIS, FICA, FSRA, POPIA, and the Insurance Acts. You’ll develop and oversee compliance frameworks, conduct risk audits, ensure representative compliance, and manage communication with regulatory bodies (e.g., FSCA, FIC).

Key Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with laws and regulations:
- FAIS Act, FICA, FSRA, Insurance Acts (long- & short-term), POPIA, CoFI Bill
Monitor AML, CFT, and KYC obligations
Track and interpret regulatory changes and adjust internal policies accordingly
Develop and implement internal compliance frameworks, policies, and controls
Conduct compliance risk assessments and audits (e.g. onboarding, product suitability, disclosures, TCF)
Monitor representatives and key individuals for Fit and Proper compliance
Prepare and submit compliance reports and manage regulatory submissions
Maintain a compliance calendar and documentation repository
Report suspicious transactions and ensure STR processes are followed
Provide compliance training to staff and representatives
Maintain detailed records of compliance-related activities for audit readiness
Build cross-departmental relationships for effective compliance integration

Qualification & Skills Required

Recognised law or accounting degree, or another FSCA-approved qualification for Compliance Officers
3–5 years’ experience in compliance/risk management within a Category I FSP environment
In-depth knowledge of:
- FAIS, FICA, POPIA, FSRA, CoFI, FSCA directives
Experience with:
- Risk registers, compliance frameworks, and reporting tools
- Compliance software (advantageous)
Strong written & verbal communication
High attention to detail and organisational ability
Analytical and independent thinking skills
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Valid driver’s licence required
