About the Role:
This position plays a critical role in executing sales and merchandising strategies on the ground. The Area Sales Manager will lead a team of Field Marketers, Merchandisers, and Sales Representatives, ensuring the successful delivery of in-store promotions, product visibility, pricing accuracy, and retail compliance across the Limpopo North region.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Retail Execution:

Monitor stock levels, ordering, returns, and implement corrective action

Ensure price compliance and negotiate promotional activities
-
Ensure POP materials and displays are implemented as per standards

Check in-store stock, manage expiry dates, and ensure shelf hygiene

Conduct pricing surveys and maintain accurate records
-
Address delivery and pricing issues
Team Leadership & HR Management:
-
Manage performance and attendance of Field Marketers and Sales Reps
-
Conduct floor walks, brief staff, and ensure alignment with cycle objectives

Plan leave and submit monthly payroll for HR

Conduct performance appraisals and identify training needs
-
Handle conduct issues and disciplinary matters in line with policy

Set targets per store/category aligned with overall business strategy
Customer & Data Management:
-
Maintain records of customer interactions and company assets

Communicate business issues and offer solutions
-
Ensure store policy adherence and build relationships with key retail stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)
-
Tertiary qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, or Retail (Advantageous)
Experience Required:
-
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Sales Supervisor or Sales Manager role

Background in FMCG with retail customer engagement

Experience managing diverse field teams
-
Understanding of HR and Industrial Relations practices
Skills & Competencies:

Strong leadership and coaching abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Confident in presenting to all levels of the business
