Job Summary
Hollard Insure is seeking a Renewal Underwriter to join their dynamic team in Parktown. This role involves managing and processing all assigned renewal transactions, ensuring compliance with underwriting standards, and supporting broker consultants with accurate and timely service delivery. The position directly contributes to the company’s growth and profitability by maintaining excellent relationships and high customer service standards.
Role Objectives

Administer the branch renewal process

Handle, negotiate, and process renewals

Support broker consultants in renewal discussions

Promote Hollard’s image through efficient service

Contribute to branch productivity and policy retention
Key Responsibilities
Account Management:
-
Negotiate and process renewals
-
Prepare and submit terms to Broker Consultants
-
Follow up on surveys, declaration letters, and renewal schedules
-
Use diary systems for managing tasks
-
Retain and grow renewal policies
Risk Management:
-
Ensure adherence to credit control procedures
-
Monitor loss ratios and broker agreements
-
Apply rating and underwriting principles
-
Confirm reinsurance where applicable
Underwriting / Risk Analysis:
-
Analyse risk data for approval
-
Provide alternatives for rating plans and coverage
-
Ensure adequate coverage and pricing
Relationship Management:
-
Maintain strong interaction with brokers and agents
Customer Service:
-
Provide feedback within 48 hours
-
Deliver renewal terms 6 to 8 weeks before due date
Reporting & Communication:
-
Maintain and update the Renewal Management Report
-
Provide accurate documentation and reports
-
Keep all communication and records (emails, registers, Indlela) up to date
Compliance & Innovation:

Support product, process, and policy improvements

Ensure alignment with TCF (Treating Customers Fairly) principles

Comply with all renewal process standards

Minimum Requirements
Experience:
-
Minimum 4 years in commercial short-term insurance
Education:
-
Matric (Grade 12)
-
NQF 4 Insurance qualification (advantageous)

RE (Regulatory Exam) qualification (advantageous)
